Role
Design Director and Creative Lead, with hands-on editorial system design, at Sametz Blackstone Associates
PULSE is the biannual newsletter of Harvard Medical School, created to strengthen donor engagement and highlight groundbreaking research. The existing publication relied heavily on dense, text-driven layouts that limited visual clarity and impact.
The redesign focused on simplifying complex scientific content through bold visual hierarchy, expressive typography, and a modular layout system that allowed research stories to feel accessible and compelling. Each issue introduced a distinct color palette and featured scientific imagery to celebrate discovery while maintaining brand cohesion.
Beyond the initial redesign, I oversaw subsequent issues to ensure visual consistency and scalability across evolving content.
The result is a donor communication that feels as groundbreaking and vibrant as the discoveries it highlights—redefining what alumni and advancement materials can look and feel like in the academic space.
